Kalana Dahanayake is a very familiar name which doesn’t need any introduction for Mahanamians. He is a proud product of our alma mater and a member of the batch of 1990. He is a prominent business figure in Sri Lanka. Kalana is the Managing Director/CEO of Nilwala Tea Factory which is one of the leading tea manufactures in the country. In addition to his current role as a businessperson, Kalana is also holding various prestigious and honorary positions in various associations related to the Tea Industry locally as well as internationally. He was also the Chairman of Sri Lanka Tea Factory Owners Association during 2011-2013 where he earned respect in the industry as a leader who took a number of great initiatives for the growth of the Industry and betterment of country’s agriculture products related export market as a whole. Kalana Dahanayaka, as a fresher worked closely with a group of senior old boys to form the Old Boy’s Association. After having gained enough experience working with the Seniors, he then became the President of the OBA in 2003 & continued it up to 2005. Where he further proved his leadership trait and well-rounded talent to lead a team consisted of diverse membership coming from various age groups. Also, he had maintain positive & professional relationship with both school management & SDS as well. Because of that, he got all the necessary support from all parties when it comes to executing day to day & conceptual projects of our Alma mater. During his tenure as Chairman, Kalana was able to execute a number of new projects where he introduced everlasting mega fundraising event “Mahanama Foot Lose-Annual Dinner Dance” showing the future leadership of the OBA on new ways and avenues on how to make the Association self-sufficient in terms of generating funds to execute larger projects for the School. He is well equipped with professional and academic qualifications coupled up with more than two decades of business management experience.
